Oxford English Dictionary Wants You To Help Crowdsource Word Origins

The Oxford English Dictionary wants YOU! They’ve just launched OED Appeals, a dedicated community space where OED editors solicit help in unearthing new information about the history and usage of English. The website will enable the public to post evidence in direct response to editors, fostering a collective effort to record the English language and find the true roots of our vocabulary.

Basically, you head over to OED Appeals and scour the various citations, words, and other information on the site. Then, in the comments, leave your insight into the etymology, word origin, etc. Simple as that. Here’s the scoop from the OED
